I SEW LEATHER INTO WOOD. Leathers often have imperfections, holes, branding, as any living creature may, I like to incorporate these beauty marks into the character of a piece. Over many months as a piece develops, each work takes on its own personality and guides me through completion. I choose woods based on their color and grain pattern to go along with the abstract shapes inherent in the leather. I cut each piece of wood and moulding to frame it. Careful planning and hours of drilling give way to the stitching, using various types of thread, bringing the pieces to life.
